Description:
This is a senior, field‑based role responsible for the commercial performance, development and ongoing support of an assigned Dealer network. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Area Sales Manager will act as the primary point of contact for Dealer Principals and senior dealership management, driving retail performance, market share growth and brand standards across their region. The successful candidate will be a commercially driven, customer‑focused professional who combines strong analytical capability with the ability to influence, challenge and support Dealer partners.
Key Responsibilities: Dealer Network Management
- Take full responsibility for the sales performance of an allocated group of Dealers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Dealer Principals, General Managers and Sales Managers
- Support Dealer capability through coaching, challenge and development of sales teams
- Support and challenge Dealer performance against key brand qualitative metrics, including Customer Loyalty, Connected Car activation and Quality Excellence
- Act as the key commercial link between the importer and the Dealer network
Sales Performance & Planning
- Deliver monthly and annual retail and wholesale targets across volume, model mix, stock age and electrified powertrains
- Agree ambitious Dealer targets aligned to national volume, market share and powertrain mix objectives
- Develop, implement and manage Dealer sales plans, including Long‑Term and three‑year planning
- Monitor performance against KPIs, agreeing corrective action plans where required
Market Insight & Reporting
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity and regional performance data
- Use data to track KPIs, prepare performance reports and identify growth opportunities
- Support Dealers with forecasting, performance reviews and business planning
Commercial Programmes & Standards
- Support the development and execution of commercial and value‑chain opportunities
- Ensure brand, sales process and customer experience standards are consistently met
- Work closely with the Product & Planning department to align sales, stocking and supply plans
Skills & Experience Requirements:
- Proven commercial sales experience within the motor industry (or a related sector)
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to influence
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills
- Commercially driven, customer‑focused and results‑oriented
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
- Full, clean driving licence
- Third‑level qualification desirable
