Description:
The main purpose of this position is to ensure the Checkout Department operates efficiently at all times while delivering excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will manage a team of 15 to 20 employees and play a key role in the daily operations of the store.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the checkout department
- Lead, support, and develop a team of 15–20 employees
- Ensure the highest level of customer service is consistently delivered
- Handle cash management and ensure tills are balanced accurately
- Monitor performance through KPI and financial reports
- Manage and coordinate store deliveries
- Prepare staff rosters and contribute to payroll processes
- Maintain high standards of merchandising and department presentation
- Participate in management meetings and implement agreed actions
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and team performance
- Work in shifts, including closing the store once per week
- Work Sundays on a rotational basis
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Supervisor/Manager role (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of checkout experience
- Proven experience in team leadership and organisation
- Experience with rostering and/or payroll is an advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive approach and ability to use own initiative
