Description:


We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with experience in Microsoft Azure to support our cloud transformation and migration initiatives. The role requires hands-on experience with Azure infrastructure, cloud migrations, troubleshooting, and operational administration.

This role requires an engineer who can understand and discuss end-to-end Azure implementations, support migration activities, and work closely with global stakeholders. Clear communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the role involves frequent coordination with cross-functional and international teams.

While the primary focus is Azure, the role also requires basic administrative awareness of Microsoft 365 services, particularly where they integrate with Azure identity, endpoint management, and enterprise cloud governance.

Accountabilities

Cloud Migration & Modernisation
 

  • Plan and support on-premises to Azure cloud migration projects, including servers, applications, and workloads.
  • Conduct assessments of existing infrastructure and recommend optimised Azure architectures.
  • Support workload rationalisation strategies including rehosting, re-platforming, or modernisation based on business requirements.
  • Assist with migration planning, execution, troubleshooting, and post-migration stabilisation.
     

Azure Engineering & Operations

Deploy, Configure, And Manage Azure Services Such As
 

  • Virtual Networks and networking components
  • Hub and spoke model
  • Identity and Access Management, including IAM / RBAC
  • AAD and integrations
     

Additional Responsibilities Include
 

  • Perform Azure administrative tasks, troubleshooting, and operational support.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of Azure governance, security policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in managing Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and identity integrations.
  • Monitor and maintain the reliability and performance of Azure workloads.
     

Cloud Performance, Monitoring & Optimisation
 

  • Monitor Azure environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues across Azure environments.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of business-critical workloads.
  • Assist with cost optimisation, performance tuning, and operational improvements.
     

Microsoft 365 — Secondary Scope

Provide basic administrative support and awareness of Microsoft 365 services, particularly where they integrate with Azure.

Expected Exposure Includes
 

  • User and mailbox administration
  • Basic tenant configuration and admin-level settings
  • Understanding of Azure AD / Entra ID integration with Microsoft 365
  • Awareness of Intune, endpoint management, MDM, and identity management
     

Senior team members will be available to review and guide M365-related changes when required, but the Cloud Engineer should understand how these services interact and work integrated to enterprise apps.

Work Environment

Required to be onsite in Athlone 2–3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential experience
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or similar roles.
  • Practical hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and administration.
  • Proven experience supporting on-premises to Azure migration projects.
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking, identity, governance, and security principles.
  • Troubleshooting experience across cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts in global team environments.
