Data Engineer Intern

Description:

As a Data Team Intern you would be working with Business Intelligence tools such a Microstrategy, learning about the educational business domain, working with languages such as SQL and python to present data to our stakeholders and help the team work more efficiently.

We are working on the development of next-generation e-Learning solutions utilising the latest in data technologies. Our key focus is on our next-generation eLearning platform “Ed” and on the delivery of student-facing, interactive, learning experiences. We are seeking great team players, with excellent coding capabilities, solid problem-solving skills and with the ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly and concisely.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Creating SQL queries to power BI dashboards
• Creating dashboards and visualizations for presenting data (Microstrategy)
• Using python to automate daily tasks related to data
• Opportunities to learn about data science tooling
• Working with latest big data cloud technologies (AWS)
• Work collaboratively within a cross-functional, agile development team to solve problems, deliver incrementally, transfer knowledge and contribute to overall product architecture
• Understand HMH goals around quality and Engineering discipline, participate in code reviews at the team level
• Communicate progress clearly and concisely to the development team

Data Engineer Intern Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience with creating tables and multi join table queries in SQL
• Business Intelligence Visualisation experience helpful
• Relational databases experience useful
• Automation scripting (using Python or similar)
• AWS knowledge advantageous
• Big data tooling knowledge helpful
