Description:
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Billing Experience team. You will manage a highly skilled group of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers who build and operate the customer billing interfaces, APIs, and workflows that sit on top of Elastic’s global billing platform.
As a manager in Platform Billing, you will drive engineering excellence, operational maturity, and product quality. This role blends people leadership, system thinking, and strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Finance, SRE, and peer engineering teams.
You will play a key role in scaling our next-generation consumption billing model and shaping the future of billing UX in Elastic Cloud.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a globally distributed team of engineers (backend, frontend, full-stack).
- Drive technical direction and execution for customer-facing billing experiences and billing APIs.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Technical Leads, SRE, and peer Billing teams to deliver a modern, intuitive billing experience.
- Establish strong operational discipline: on-call excellence, incident follow-through, reliability metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Build clear roadmaps, define priorities, and ensure predictable delivery.
- Improve engineering quality, development workflows, testing infrastructure, and documentation.
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, high ownership, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment across engineering, product, finance, and cloud operations.
- Balance strategic initiatives with KTLO (keep-the-lights-on) work and platform stability.

- A strong engineering foundation (backend or full-stack), enabling you to discuss architecture, design, and tradeoffs with confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to drive execution in a distributed, cross-team environment.

- Understanding of large-scale data pipelines, APIs, or complex distributed systems.
