Environmental Technician

Description:

Cork County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on panels from which vacancies for Environmental Technician Grade 1 may be filled.

The Council has a long history of operating in-house laboratories, most of which are consolidated on the Environment directorate’s campus at Inniscarra, Co. Cork, which comprises of two Water Quality laboratories and a Veterinary Food Safety Laboratory. All laboratories are accredited to ISO 17025 standards.

The Environmental Technician Grade I role may span one or more areas of expertise. There are 4 streams, or areas of specialism, in this campaign with opportunities to be placed on panels as follows:

Candidates can apply for positions in one or multiple streams provided they meet the relevant essential qualifications and experience.

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms -

Have passed the N.C.E.A. / H.E.T.A.C. National Certificate Final Examination in Science in Applied Biology, or in Science in Applied Chemistry or in Environmental Science or Agricultural Science. or
hold an equivalent qualification
Have at least three years satisfactory experience after attaining the qualification concerned
Have, satisfactory relevant experience, in a technician post at Grade II level, or in an analogous post under a local authority or health board in the State,
Have at least three years satisfactory relevant experience in a technician post at Grade II level or in an analogous post,
Have satisfactory service, in a technician post at Grade I or higher level in an analogous post under a local authority or health board in the State,
Possess adequate training or experience relating to the control and supervision of staff.Further information is available in the Candidate Information Booklet & Role Specification on our website.
