Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
 

  • Energy and Infrastructure Management:
  • Implement and manage energy-efficient systems to optimize farm operations.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of boiler systems, CHP units, heat pumps, irrigation systems, refrigeration units, and production facilities.
  • Monitor and analyse energy consumption data to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with energy regulations and sustainability targets.
  • Operations and Maintenance:
  • Design and implement maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance schedules for all critical equipment
  • Collaborate with the Production & Operations teams to provide engineering solutions to recurring maintenance issues
  • Conduct regular inspections and performance assessments of equipment and facilities.
  • Diagnose breakdown problems and develop preventative maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical and automation systems
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors for upgrades, repairs, and new installations.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all farm infrastructure and equipment meet health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement best practices for risk management, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and regulatory compliance and ensure site documentation is accurate, timely and relevant
     

Essential

Key Skills & Knowledge
 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Recent experience of designing and implementing maintenance strategies & procedures
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in practical application
  • Experience of vendor and contractor procurement and management
  • Proven track record in team development and management essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is strategic and continuously looking for ways to improve how things are done, use of Lean tools/Methodology
     

Desirable
 

  • Experience in a large horticultural or agricultural production environment
  • Hold an electrical or mechanical engineering qualification
  • Project Management experience
