Fully Funded Phd Position In Ethics Of Ai Foundation Models

Dublin City University, in partnership with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network ‘HARNESS’, is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position focusing on the Ethics of AI Foundation Models and Large Language Models (LLMs). The successful candidate will be based at the Institute of Ethics, School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music, and will engage in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of AI, ethics, and law.

Key Responsibilities

– Conduct a systematic literature review using the PRISMA method.

– Analyze ethical challenges related to AI foundation models, including bias, transparency, and responsibility.

– Develop recommendations for responsible development and ethical application of AI technologies.

– Participate in industry secondments in Madrid, focusing on technical immersion and product review.

– Collaborate with academic and industry partners across Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Lithuania.

Eligibility Requirements

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Philosophy (at least one degree must be in Philosophy).

– Applicants must not have previously completed a PhD.

– Demonstrated strong interest in ethics, law, data science, and artificial intelligence.

– Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.

– Must not have resided, studied, or worked in Ireland for more than 12 months in the past 3 years.
