The team is accountable for delivering against category strategy and act as the business partner to key stakeholders and suppliers. The team is responsible for setting the agenda for strategic sourcing and drive innovation opportunities to constantly manage spend and realise more value for BT.

The Senior Buyer is responsible for helping to drive and deliver the procurement plan and activities in BT Connectivity, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Business Partnering practice. This role develops and implements procurement frameworks, policies and procedures. This role holds strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure procurement competency and continuous value delivery.

What will the role involve? Typical duties include;

  • Helping to drive and deliver procurement plans and activities in BT’s Connectivty Category Management, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement. Negotiating and implementing procurement frameworks and procedures.
  • Lead on central projects globally and coordinate with regions to deliver results
  • Working with BT business stakeholders to identify and deliver savings opportunities, efficiencies, and compliance.
  • Ability to work within (sometimes complex) Connectivity supply chain scenarios and provide agile responses to Business Units to assist in the progression of market opportunities.
  • Connectivity bid support and supporting internal business units with creative supply chain solutions for corporate customers.
  • Providing key inputs for Category Strategies and Sourcing Activities, through planning and execution of sourcing, and supplier and risk management activities
  • Building and maintaining category knowledge, apply best practices around sourcing approach, supplier selection, total cost of ownership and negotiation tactics
  • Drive and deliver end-to-end sourcing projects including complex contractual and pricing models, in accordance with strict timelines.
  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers and negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements utilising the latest contracting tools
  • Deliver other business partnering services to key CFUs / CUs
  • Preparing management reporting dashboard

What are we looking for in our Senior Buyers? You may have a variety of the below;

  • We’re looking for someone that’s results orientated, ambitious, and passionate.
  • Comfortable with digital sourcing tools.
  • Experience within a fast-paced, busy Procurement function.
  • Good business expertise in category management, particularly around supplier capabilities, commercial models, and partner programmes required to deliver portfolio and customer requirements
  • Ability to manage sometimes complex, strategic, and commercial requirements between BT and Suppliers, and deliver projects and results on time and in full
  • Exposure to business partnering and working with business stakeholders to deliver results.

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant business or technical area
  • MBA / Masters Degree equivalent an advantage
  • AOC.P.M.(Certified Purchasing Manager), and/or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) desired.
  • Supply Chain, and Sourcing Experience
  • Exposure to digital sourcing tools and willingness to learn and develop further
  • Presentation skills including advance level knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
