Limerick City and County Council has an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in playing a significant role in the continued transformation of the Limerick region. Limerick City and County Council are inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for this competition. It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates to fill the vacancy of Head of Marketing and Communications on a 3 year fixed term contract.

The Council is seeking a senior marketing and communications professional with substantial skills in marketing, proactive and reactive media relations. A proven leader, the successful candidate will be confident working at senior levels within a complex multi-disciplinary environment. The successful applicant will be capable of delivering and implementing with our strategic partners the marketing strategy for the Limerick region.

The successful applicant will lead successfully a team dedicated to putting Limerick’s reputation, achievements and long term future at the heart of everything it does.

The Head of Marketing and Communications will be required to bring together the Council and its strategic partners to ensure that there continues to be a co-ordinated approach to the delivery at a local, national and international level of ‘Brand Limerick’ that is clearly identifiable and connected with Limerick.

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms have:

• Have obtained a qualification at level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Journalism, Multi Media/Communications, Marketing or Public Relations, or a related discipline.
• Have a minimum of 7 years satisfactory experience in a broad communications role, e.g PR, journalism, media management, corporate communications, communication campaigns and digital media
• Proven leadership skills at a managerial level
