Reporting to the Chief Technology Risk & Information Security Officer (CTRISO), Europe, this is a leadership role within the European Technology Risk and Security Team which is a new function of the Office of the CIO, Europe. This new role will lead a team to development, implement and maintain first line technology risk management capabilities to meet the obligations and responsibilities set out in the parent group (Lifeco) Technology Risk Management Policy and associated policies and standards to support the European business segment.

This will include all aspects of the risk management framework (IMMMR), enhancing risk awareness and culture, and technology resilience (DR, BCM, crisis Management and emergency response) coordination, advisory & assurance.

The role will lead a team of 10 and will involve significant senior relationship and stakeholder management across multiple lines of business in Europe and Lifeco.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Direct the European Technology risk management strategy and business preparedness, including testing, of technology resilience
  • Develop, apply and embed the Technology Risk Management Framework (IMMMR) including operational support for key risk processes (RCSA, risk registers, risk exceptions and acceptance, audit and risk findings, and emerging risks)
  • Develop, apply and embed IT standards, procedures and guidance aligned to Lifeco’s global minimum standards whilst meeting European business and jurisdictional requirements. Develops and supports implementation roadmaps for Central Technology Services and business units to comply with requirements within agreed timescales including risk priorities and commercial considerations
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of clear, standardised and reliable reporting methods that ensure all stakeholders, executive forums, Boards and jurisdictional Regulators are provided information that articulates strategies and controls are in place and technology operating risks are well managed
  • Coordinate, advise and assure Technology Resilience ensuring that European Technology proactively manages resiliency relating to DR, BCM, crisis management and emergency response within its agreed service tolerance limits and can evidence compliance with internal policy and regulatory requirements
  • Key contributor to the European Technology annual planning and budgeting process.
  • Lead and motivate a team, managing the performance and development of direct reports, ensuring alignment with the European Technology strategic direction. Ensures robust succession planning across the team and uses talent management strategies to build and retain capability.
  • Role model and support the broader leadership activities of the OCIO Risk & Security team, developing the ‘brand’ and highly engaged team recognised for its diligence, subject matter expertise and excellence in delivery. Able to seamlessly deputise for the CTRISO as required
  • Be a thought leader for technology risk management across the European business segment, educating stakeholders including senior executive across the European segment on complex topics, emerging trends and immediate needs of technology risk

 

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills

  • An experienced Information Technology leader with a diverse range of knowledge (including Cloud infrastructure) and capabilities in a large organization across multiple geographies
  • Deep knowledge of risk management frameworks and their application within a Technology environment
  • Experience of Technology resiliency including DR, BCM, crisis management and emergency response would be beneficial
  • An understanding of trends and regulatory focus across European regulators, particularly operational resilience and cloud infrastructure is beneficial
  • Knowledge of market trends and technology innovation, the ability to use this to identify practical applications within the organization for beneficial outcomes
  • Experience of how to develop risk maturity and risk awareness / culture, with experience working in first line risk or second line of defense desirable
  • The ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance; tenacious and accountable in driving results
  • Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a technology-related field, or equivalent work or education-related experience. Master’s Degree is a plus
