Cork City Council invites applications, on the official application form, from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which temporary and permanent vacancies for IS Project Leader – Business Systems (Grade VII) may be filled.

The IS Project Leader - Business Systems (Grade VII) will work as part of the Council’s ICT Directorate. They will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of complex Business Systems projects that will include members from both ICT and also the business departments. As well as leading the team in the delivery of projects, the IS Project Leader – Business Systems will be expected to work with and report to senior business and ICT managers to provide an effective project governance structure including participation in steering groups. This will also involve the preparation and maintenance of project risk registers and communication plans. The ability to manage the procurement process, vendors, contracts, and service level agreements will be pivotal to this role.

As part of the ICT Directorate senior management team the IS Project Leader – Business Systems will be expected to provide leadership on the support, maintenance and enhancement of the City Council’s Business Systems and ICT infrastructure. They will also be involved in the introduction and implementation of a standards-based approach to:

• Incident management,
• Problem management,
• Change management,
• Configuration management,
• Service level management.

The IS Project Leader – Business Systems will be responsible for managing the delivery of ICT services throughout the Council, including key performance indicators and internal service level agreements. The ICT Project Leader – Business Systems will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Directorate’s relationship with other business units while also overseeing vendor relationships and managing project, operational and capital budgets.
The IS Project Leader - Business Systems will contribute to the introduction of a standards-based approach to document management for projects, business systems and ICT operations.
The IS Project Leader – Business Systems will be expected to identify and exploit the potential of shared services as well as new technologies and systems such as Cloud based initiatives. In close collaboration with senior management of the Unit the IS Project Leader – Business Systems will have an input into the preparation of Operational & Service Delivery plans and budgets. Additionally, they will have an active role in risk management and ensuring health and safety in the workplace for the Department.
Additional duties may be assigned by the Head of ICT from time to time.
