Outline of Role:

This position is responsible for executing the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process within the buying planning function. The purpose of the of the MRP process is to maintain raw material & consumable inventory at appropriate levels to meet both safety stock and manufacturing requirements. The role is also responsible for developing and implementing inventory strategies for critical raw material & consumables to meet the needs of the business. This role requires a strong understanding of the business and is expected to influence decisions and strategies across multiple functional disciplines at both site & global level to support site priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own relationship with API External Manufacturing
  • Manage the operation of the MRP process
  • Creation of non BOM purchase orders with accurate quantities & delivery timelines
  • Ensure Purchase orders are aligned to dual sourcing strategies where relevant
  • Ensure inventory levels are maintained at appropriate safety stock levels to meet production requirements
  • Support the business with minimizing excess, obsolete and expired products
  • Manage solvent ordering process to meet forecasted production requirements
  • Own the day-to-day relationship with vendors: lead time, quotes, purchase order updates & queries, delivery timelines, documentation mismatch, returns, payment issues (GRIR) etc.
  • Engage in key scheduling and planning huddles & meetings to provide updates on delivery schedules & requirements to meet production
  • Maintain accurate SAP master data for the Buying Planning function: safety stock levels, PIR, lead times, incoterms etc.
  • Support quality & technical function with vendor complaints & Supplier Change Notifications
  • Proactively engage cross functionally to resolve supply constraints
  • Proactively engage in scenario planning and produce concise report on risk for own products
  • Buying Planning representative on NPI cross functional team
  • Proactively review forecasted inventory projections to identify risk
  • Identify & lead process improvements within the buying planning function to align with the strategic direction of the business
  • Preparation of Supply chain reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis
  • Preparation of Supply Chain metrics
  • Buying Planning representative for critical supply review meetings both onsite & at global level

Pre-requisites

  • MRP / SAP experience in a complex manufacturing environment
  • API manufacturing / Biotech experience
  • New Product introduction experience desirable
  • Excel: intermediate level
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to present information in a clear, concise manner
