Local Category Manager

 

Description:

CRH is looking for a Fuel & Energy Category Manager. Within this role, one will provide professional procurement expertise to deliver business objectives with responsibility for Fuel & Energy category. Category responsibilities include Electricity, Solid Fuels, Alternative Fuels, Liquid Fuels & Gas across CRH Europe North Cluster including Ireland & UK. Additionally, you will develop category strategies to drive value for the business and to deliver cost benefits. Crucially, you will collaborate with key stakeholders within the Fuel & Energy Category Team, Cluster Management Team, Opco Management Team, Opco Operational Teams and local Procurement Managers. Elements of the role include building strong and effective relationships both with internal customers and external supply partners, as well as supporting alignment of category strategy between category teams and country / local opcos. As such, we are searching for someone who can demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and expertise while supporting/driving delivery of procurement best practice at a local and Cluster level.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead preparation of category strategy plans to help achieve company goals.
  • Assess national sourcing needs and drive performance in decentralized businesses.
  • Support Decarbonisation roadmap including Renewable energies, CPPAs & sustainability agendas.
  • Work closely with the National and Regional Procurement Directors and Local Category Manager’s to determine sourcing needs, capture synergy opportunities & leverage the economies of scale.
  • Develop and manage key supplier relationships and maintain effective communication across all stakeholder groups.
  • Drive annual cost savings projects and other procurement benefits, using best-in-class procurement tools & the CRH 5-Step-Process as its foundation
  • Develop a best-in-class expertise and national market knowledge for assigned categories.
  • Provide monthly reporting on key initiatives and projects as well as Procurement dashboard.
  • Forecast, budget and deliver on Financial KPI’s.

  • Effective at cross-functional teamwork
  • Degree educated (with Master’s degree an advantage)
  • Engineering or construction background is a preference.
  • Led / developed procurement/commercial team structures at a local or higher level.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, Data Warehouse and processes (eg catalogues, eProcurement) while not essential will be an advantage.
