About the Role

The ideal candidate is an outstanding writer and leader in documenting enterprise software with an ability to lead a documentation team that writes content targeted to professional and technical audiences.

  • Focuses on cross-product content development for jobs to be done, use cases, and prescriptive content that goes beyond feature documentation and helps customers with real-world opportunities and challenges using Workday.

  • Drives the content needs of customers and the business from a broad perspective.

  • Leads a geographically dispersed team responsible for planning, writing, editing, and delivering high-quality documentation for a targeted audience.

  • Represents writers across different products, coordinating with peer managers responsible for product-specific content.

  • Assesses content requirements, identifies cross-team impacts, and coordinates assets to ensure successful execution.

  • Provides constructive feedback on documentation plans, schedules, and customer requirements.

  • Learns the product and reviews content prepared by team members for clarity, consistency, quality, and depth.

  • Provides support for career growth and personal development of team members.

  • Coaches and supports writers with experience; mentors and guides junior writers.

  • Interacts with local leadership, peer group managers, and worldwide senior management.

  • Works closely with development, customer support, product management, and various other teams to produce excellent content.

  • Writes content within and across product areas, including user interface text, error messages, release notes, and administrator guide topics as needed.

About You

We're looking for someone with confirmed leadership and people management skills, outstanding interpersonal, communication, adept at time management, and detailed understanding of technical documentation requirements and the delivery process.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience.

  • Has attained at least a staff or senior level of experience in a technical writing role.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience in the technical field working with customers and understanding their business needs and technical requirements.

  • Can lead a coordinated team of writers with multiple functional elements and responsibilities.

  • Develops positive relationships within the team, across Information Development, and throughout Workday.

  • Outstanding leadership and people-management skills.

  • Can quickly gain an understanding of Information Development tools, processes, and style guide.

  • Proactively communicates with leaders across functions, product areas, and timezones.

  • Established history of leading initiatives or cross-team projects to successful outcomes.

  • Experience writing and leading various publications across multiple product areas.

  • Standout team mate with a positive demeanor who leads through example.
