Description:
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Marine Pilot on behalf of a well-established port located in Ireland. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled maritime professional to join a dedicated port team, contributing to safe and efficient navigation of vessels within port waters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out safe pilotage of vessels to and from port, in accordance with local and international regulations.
- Provide navigational advice and expertise to ship masters under various weather and tidal conditions.
- Work closely with the Harbour Master and port operations to coordinate vessel movements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of port limits, tidal movements, berthing procedures, and navigational hazards.
- Support emergency response efforts and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
Candidate Requirements:
- Valid STCW Regulation II/2 Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer, 500GT or more), currently sailing as Chief Officer or Master.
- Alternatively, candidates holding an STCW Regulation II/1 OOW Unlimited Certificate with recent, relevant port manoeuvring experience may also be considered.
- Must be qualified to operate within the Irish Mercantile Marine.
- A minimum of 6 years of seagoing experience, including at least 6 months as Master or Chief Officer.
- Must permanently reside (or be willing to relocate) within 10 km of the Harbour Master’s office.
- Strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Legal entitlement to work in Ireland is required.
