The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is a private, self-financing, not-for-profit medical and surgical college headquartered in Dublin (Ireland) with global reach through its overseas medical universities and health care centres in the Middle East, the Far East and Africa. Since its foundation in 1784, it has played a leadership role in Irish surgical and medical education. Currently, it operates the largest Medical School in Ireland and provides undergraduate education in Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, and Nursing. In addition to Surgery, it also provides postgraduate training and education in Radiology, Dentistry, Nursing & Midwifery, Sports and Exercise Medicine, Healthcare Management and Leadership, and has an Institute of Research.

RCSI is seeking to recruit a candidate as part of a team involved in a €7.8M HEA-funded project with the School of Pharmacy and Bimolecular Sciences at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. This project aims to develop micro-credential ‘bite size’ courses as part of a larger suite of certificate, diploma, bachelors and master's level programmes. The two new main programmes include:

  • MSc in Technologies and Analytics in Precision Medicine
  • BSc programme in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies

The project entitled ‘Enabling Future Pharma: beyond the pill’ aims to develop a suite of innovative and agile programmes, creating a skilled talent pool focused on emerging and future pharma technologies that will address skills gaps in industry and enable future growth. Areas of focus include advanced therapies, genomics, precision medicine, big data and connected health underpinned by innovation and leadership. The aim is for the postgraduate Master’s programme to commence in September 2021, with the undergraduate BSc following a year later in September 2022.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a digital marketing strategy in support of student recruitment.
  • Use audience targeting techniques and paid social media marketing aimed at generating student applications and converting prospective students, via agreed channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok etc.
  • Implement Search Engine Marketing (SEM) for both applications and conversion campaigns via Google AdWords: PPC advertising, Display Advertising and Remarketing.
  • Development of marketing content and market research to support the School’s student recruitment activities.
  • Support the day-to-day management of the School’s social media channels.
  • Maintain sections of the RCSI website, ensure that all are kept up-to-date and optimised for search.
  • Deliver email marketing campaigns and distribute online marketing literature via CRM and other channels.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with key internal stakeholders across schools and other departments.
  • Develop and implement a general School marketing plan to facilitate reputational enhancement of the School.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, related field
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment
  • Can build and maintain strong working relationships

  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of digital campaign planning including creative development, audience targeting, content development, advert delivery, campaign oversight and reporting.
  • Proven knowledge and experience using Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Google PPC, Display and Remarketing adverts.
  • Proven knowledge and experience managing social media channels and generating organic content for same.
  • Proven knowledge and experience tailoring content for specific audiences/markets.
  • Proven knowledge and experience managing and updating website pages.
  • Proven knowledge and experience using email marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience of working in the third level education sector and/or for a multinational organisation.
  • Proven track record in taking ownership of discrete programmes of activity and completion in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly to a diverse audience.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skillsets.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Able to focus on delivering programme objectives while managing costs.
  • Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in digital marketing/communications.
  • Experience of working in the third level education sector and/or for a multinational organisation.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with content management systems.
  • Familiarity with the principles of UX.
  • Experience using web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics.
