Position Summary Information

James Madison University is seeking a Programmer / Analyst to develop and maintain web-driven applications and computerized systems and to ensure the integrity of data used in support of Facilities Management.

  • Develop software and provide technical support for computer hardware and software application systems and networking applications.
  • Maintain departmental servers and applications.
  • Maintain clients and reports for computerized maintenance management systems (Assetworks AiM) utilized by department and customers to Facilities Management.
  • Train Facilities Management staff on various computer applications.
  • Communicate and/or collaborate with the University Information Technology staff as a departmental technical liaison
  • Must have expertise in using Apache Tomcat, Java/J2EE, HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, REST, SPRING, Angular, Node.js, jQuery, Bootstrap, JSON, and GIT.
  • Hands on experience working in IDEs like Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, and Webstorm and experience in automated build process by using Jenkins and Maven.
  • Skilled in developing reports in Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL Server and Eclipse BIRT.
  • Ability to support, troubleshoot, and maintain complex (client/server and web-based) applications in accordance with vendor maintenance agreements and Information Systems standards.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in working on Windows and Linux operating systems and Oracle and Microsoft databases.
  • Experience with TCP/IP protocols, data communications networks, Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Undergraduate degree in a computer-related field or graduation from high school supplemented by coursework or an equivalent combination of education and training accepted related to data processing systems, computers and servers, accounting/management software, hardware installation/repair.
