Our Finance team has started the search for an IFRS 17 Project Support Manager to join the Financial Reporting Controls ("FRC") team on a 12-month fixed contract.

The FRC function provides assurance in relation to effectiveness of the control environment over Aviva's external financial reporting. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Financial Reporting Controls and will involve delivery of project level controls scoping & risk assessment activity, ensuring appropriate engagement and support for development & implementation of controls in the project environment, process walkthroughs and talk throughs, delivery of independent assurance activity, including design and operational effectiveness testing and assessment of control issues.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of FRC activity over IFRS 17 for key project activity. You will work with key stakeholders within Project and BAU teams to ensure the scope for delivery is agreed and appropriately maintained throughout the contract term
  • Accountable for the application of Aviva's FRC methodology for the relevant IFRS Project, engaging early with key project stakeholders to provide the relevant guidance and support, to enable process and control owners to build and embed controls in the most effective and efficient way in line with the requirements
  • Required to apply your professional judgement to how elements of the methodology should be applied
  • Involved in the assessment of FRC control deficiencies, in line with the FRC methodology. This is an area that will require application of professional judgement for example around materiality and appropriate mitigation controls and actions
  • Recent audit experience (external audit or internal audit)
  • Qualified Accountant desirable or equivalent experience
  • Experience and knowledge of life or general insurance under IFRS and Solvency II is desirable
  • IFRS 17 knowledge desirable
  • Risk and controls delivery experience, including SOX and internal risk and controls management
  • Knowledge and experience of financial reporting controls
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate complex issues in an easily understood manner
  • Relationship management skills to achieve objectives through others and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across both the businesses/markets and external suppliers
  • Effective influencing skills with people at all levels internally and externally with the ability to build credible working relationships
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines whilst maintaining high quality of outputs
  • Work as a part of a highly motivated team to deliver the whole team objectives
