Description:

Our client, a leading Irish Construction Engineering Company is recruiting a Project Manager to join their team in Dublin. The company in question had a turnover of greater than 1.5 billion last year. Our client has extensive experience in both public and private sector engineering projects across a broad range of sectors including educational, infrastructural, conservation and refurbishment, commercial, residential and industrial developments. The successful candidate with join the team on a Datacentre Project. This is a full time, permanent position, with great scope for career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of a large-scale data centre construction project from start to finish, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against key milestones and deliverables.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities, and implement appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the project, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and stakeholder communication.
  • Liaise with the client, design team, contractors, and vendors to ensure that project requirements are understood, met, and communicated effectively.
  • Manage project change requests and variations, and communicate the impact of changes to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all project documentation, including drawings, specifications, contracts, and permits, is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure that they are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversee the internal fit-out of the data centre, including the installation of server racks, cooling systems, power distribution units, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the fireproofing of the data centre, ensuring that all fire protection systems and materials are installed and tested in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct a global assessment of the data centre, including site selection, climate conditions, seismic risk, and other factors that may affect the operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all project work complies with relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Facilitate project closeout activities, including final inspections, commissioning, handover, and client training.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed by all project personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management in the construction industry, with a focus on large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of data centre construction is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse project team.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and cost management.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience with internal fit-out, fireproofing, and global assessment of data centres or similar facilities.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
