Duffy Alexander Recruitment works in partnership with the HSE (Public Hospitals which includes University Teaching Hospitals), Private hospitals & Clinics across Ireland to recruit doctors across all levels in multiple specialities.

 

Key responsibilities of the Resident Medical Officer (RMO):

  • Record patient histories and examinations on the Initial Medical Assessment Form.
  • Carry out and document patient reviews promptly when requested by consultants or nursing staff.
  • Monitor patients regularly in line with care plans, escalating any concerns as needed.
  • Issue prescriptions in accordance with consultant instructions.
  • Attend and contribute to ward rounds.
  • Finalise patient discharges, including preparation of electronic summaries.
  • Assist in teaching and supporting colleagues, students, and staff.
  • Act promptly in response to incidents affecting patients, visitors, or staff.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving quality and managing risk.
  • Utilise and adapt to relevant technologies in clinical care and administration.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviour that promotes high standards of care and upholds the hospital’s reputation.
  • Comply with all hospital policies and procedures, including clinical and operational guidelines.

 

Key requirements:

  • General IMC registration or in the final process of registering with IMC
  • Full Professional exams, for example, MRCPI / MRCP UK etc. or in process of professional exams, would help your application
  • Valid BLS & ACLS
  • Proven post internship experience in General Medicine
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Irish / EU / UK or South African Hospital experience desirable but not essential
  • You will need to have passed either the IELTS or OET exam and hold a valid certificate. The two accepted standards are IELTS overall Band 7, not less than 6.5 in each domain or OET Grade B overall
  • Immediately available or July 2026
