Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Automation Systems Engineer to join a Dublin-based team supporting a major industrial automation project. This role involves both hands-on systems design and development as well as full lifecycle project involvement — from design and programming through to FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
The position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge smart factory and digital automation solutions, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced control systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
	- Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of automation and control systems within defined project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Produce and manage detailed technical documentation (CSVRA, SDS, VDS, etc.) in compliance with GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11 standards.
- Conduct full lifecycle testing and validation, including simulation, debugging, FAT, and SAT execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including project managers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and software developers — to optimize system performance.
- Support the assembly, build, and debug phases of control systems and provide hands-on direction during commissioning.
- Architect and configure automation platforms such as FactoryTalk View SE, ThinManager, KepServerEX, MS SQL Server, and SSRS.
- Apply advanced programming knowledge in Rockwell PLCs (Ladder, Structured Text), FactoryTalk VBA, and SQL.
- Contribute to ongoing innovation and product development efforts to enhance automation capability and efficiency.
Requirements
	- Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial automation, with at least 3 years in a GMP-regulated environment (pharma, biotech, life sciences, or medical devices).
- Proven expertise in Allen Bradley control systems, including servo motion control and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet/IP, IO-Link, and other industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with SCADA/HMI design and integration of robotics or vision systems is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical-grade automation standards, including validation and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and system schematics.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
