BMS Global Procurement is looking to recruit on a permanent contract a Senior Category Manager, Pharma, External Supply, t o join the Global Procurement group based out of the BMS Global Business Unit Office in Dublin, Ireland .

This Senior Category Manager role will include procurement responsibilities for the strategic sourcing of externally manufactured API, Drug Product and/or Packaging Services, ultimately leading to aligned strategic sourcing solutions throughout the commercial product life cycle. Role responsibilities will include delivering high value multiyear sourcing strategies for Global Product and Supply (GPS) that supports the business strategies.

This role is focused on developing, executing category strategies within GPS. These strategies will define the purchasing approach for specific spend categories, including sourcing, contracting, defining buying channels, aligning with purchasing policies, and establishing supplier relationship management programs.

Key Responsibilities Include

 Developing, maintaining, and implementing a multi-year strategic category plan to ensure all projects deliver maximum value. 
 Assisting in the development and adherence to strategic category management processes and procedures. 
 Managing supplier and category segmentation, value capture initiatives, metrics/KPI development and application, and contract management. 
 Ensuring alignment with business priorities and functional objectives. 
 Bring value and savings back to the business by monetizing the value created through Vendor CoGs development and overall Network/Category Strategies. 

This role requires close collaboration with various business units to align with their priorities and objectives.

This role will report into the Director, Pharma, External Supply, Global Procurement within the Pharma Procurement pillar; partner with senior leadership across the organization to align sourcing strategies, execute end to end sourcing roadmap and initiatives and contribute to strong supplier relationship management.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

 Lead Procurement responsibilities with strategic suppliers of externally manufactured API, Drug Product and/or Packaging Services. 
 Partner with cross-functional teams and drive alignment with Procurement, Quality, Legal, Supply Chain, EHS, Cyber and Finance to facilitate timely enablement/integration of highly technical and complex assets/technologies in accordance with company strategy. 
 Establish and maintain key relationships through effective stakeholder management. 
 Promotion and implementation of simplified procurement processes including contracting to drive speed, urgency, and responsiveness to the needs of the business. 
 Act as a change agent to influence across business units. 
Deliver best in class sourcing and procurement for selected suppliers. Responsible for annual budgeting and achievement of year to year standard costs, budget variances, PPV and TCO target delivery.
 Act as evaluation liaison within Pharma Global Procurement, communicating asset requirements and understanding external business partner capabilities. 
 Remain current with market trends (including use of AI tools) through relationships with cross category leads, suppliers and market experts, and ensure compliance to the BMS processes. 
 Provide hands on support, direction and ownership on sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, contract deviation management and supplier relationship opportunities and issues. 
 Develop End to End strategic sourcing solutions for commercial assets. 
 Present progress and escalation to appropriate leadership (including functional and Global Procurement-related governance). 
 Support and/or drive development and execution of performance management (e.g., productivity KPIs, Savings Targets, Cost Avoidance) 
 Identification and categorization of risk through engagement with Functional Area partners. 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

 BA or BSc Degree in a business or scientific discipline (advanced degree a plus) 
 7+ years of pharmaceutical related experience for a reputable, global Cell Therapy, Pharmaceutical, Biologics, or similar company. Knowledge of cGMP requirements, research and development, and world class planning and execution processes. 
 Experience in biopharmaceutical/small molecule manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain. 
 Understanding of Quality & Regulatory standards, and policies relevant to the services within the remit of the role. 
 Understanding of legal contracts and support/lead negotiations through to contract execution. 
 Prior experience with Account Management, Outsourcing Management, Business Operations or Business Development within the Pharma/Biotech/CRO industry a plus. 
 Proven experience in working in a matrixed global environment building strong transparent relationships and influencing key stakeholders to reliably deliver commitments and obtain alignment 
 Understanding of relevant AI tools and their implementation within a procurement environment. 
 Excellent oral and written communication skills and diplomacy to convey information and influence others. 
 Demonstrated knowledge of procurement processes including but not limited to (RFI, RFP, RFQ,RFX) contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning, development/implementation of savings methodologies and integrated supply chain experience. 
 Demonstrates a high level of adaptability in dealing with ambiguous outcomes, complex work environment and balances multiples demands on role in a responsive and professional manner. 
 Ability to provide innovative ideas to optimize value chain and generate new ideas or alternatives that create value including seeking new information and external insights. 
 Demonstrated strong leadership capability with ability to make and act on decisions while balancing speed, quality, and risk. 
 Capability to build alignment with enterprise and external business partners.
