The successful candidate will lead the CSA estimating function, contributing to the strategic growth and continued success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the CSA estimating function for large-scale, complex tenders, ensuring precision in cost estimation based on drawings and specifications.
- Manage quantity take-offs and prepare comprehensive pricing documents.
- Oversee the procurement of detailed pricing from Irish and European subcontractors and suppliers.
- Conduct data-driven analysis to benchmark and justify subcontractor selections.
- Support the maintenance and development of the internal cost database.
- Present estimates to senior leadership, including the Estimating Director and Board of Directors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers).
- Stay informed on industry trends, market developments, and pricing benchmarks.
- Drive continuous improvement in estimating procedures and quality assurance standards.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of estimators.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Electrical Estimators to ensure coordinated bid submissions.
- Uphold the company’s high standards of safety and risk awareness throughout the estimating process.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant estimating experience on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong background in Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) engineering or proven trade experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring a team of estimators.
- Proficient in producing management reports for bids and monthly reviews.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and proficiency in QS BQ production software (e.g., Buildsoft, CostX).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
