Senior Network Software Engineer

You'll work in the Distributed Edge research and delivery team within Akamai’s Security and Technology Group. Responsible for creating and developing our distributed mobile internet edge and private access network platform. Enabling enterprise network mobility and IoT with privacy, policy and security built-in.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for-

• Networking platform component development, testing, integration, upgrade, performance testing, application optimization and benchmarking.
• Working across Engineering/Support teams ensuring services meet their goals for service reliability, security, availability and efficiency.
• Ensuring and focusing on delivering continuous service automation, monitoring and throughput improvements.

To be successful in this role you will :

• Have extensive experience of programming, in one or more of the following, C, C++, Go & Python
• Demonstrate experience in Linux systems and network programming. Intel x86 Architecture or other multi-core processing engines; network drivers, Netfilter modules & eBPF hooks.
• Demonstrate experience in networking and related protocols Ethernet, TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, Filtering
• Have experience in implementing solutions involving L3VPN, VxLAN, EVPN, IPSec, BGP, VRF, SD-WAN or IPv6 transition technologies
• Demonstrate experience in distributed network systems troubleshooting with packet analysis tools like Wireshark
• Be willing to work autonomously or as part of a results-oriented team. Demonstrating excellent test-writing and code documentation skills.
