Description:
As a Senior Project Planner, you will take ownership of planning and scheduling on major engineering and MEP projects in Limerick. Working closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Team and Site Management, you will develop, monitor and control fully integrated construction programmes.
You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, providing clear reporting, early warnings and performance insights to support informed decision making. This is a senior level planning position with responsibility for mentoring junior planners and influencing programme strategy on high value projects.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Ensure programme sequencing supports safe systems of work and realistic construction durations
- Integrate safety milestones and key compliance requirements into project schedules
Programme and Planning
- Develop detailed construction programmes from design and commercial information
- Create labour loaded schedules and S curves aligned with commercial budgets
- Coordinate and integrate schedules with main contractors and client teams
- Optimise build sequences and identify programme risk areas
- Produce short term look ahead programmes and drop line schedules
- Maintain and revise programmes throughout the project lifecycle
Commercial and Performance Control
- Monitor weekly progress and measure productivity against planned man hours
- Provide estimate at completion forecasts in conjunction with the commercial team
- Support client schedule negotiations and programme discussions
- Highlight risks, delays and potential cost impacts to senior management
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare internal and external progress reports
- Develop trackers and reporting templates to monitor performance
- Provide clear early warnings based on site progress and emerging risks
Leadership and Collaboration
- Act as the key planning contact for the Project Manager
- Mentor and guide junior planners where required
- Facilitate look ahead and planning meetings with site management
- Support continuous improvement of planning processes
About You
- Third level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying or similar. A strong technical trades background with planning experience will also be considered
- Minimum five years experience in a Project Planner or Senior Planner role within construction or engineering
- Proven experience developing and managing programmes for MEP, pharmaceutical, data centre or industrial projects
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent planning software
- Commercially aware with the ability to align programme with cost and labour forecasts
- Excellent reporting, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Detail focused with strong time management and problem solving ability
- A proactive approach with the confidence to escalate risks when required
