Software Engineering Manager

Description:

As part of Intercom’s drive towards IPO we’re expanding our group of R&D teams dedicated to Growth. The purpose of this group is to accelerate Intercom’s revenue growth by building product experiences that help us achieve our go-to-market strategy.

We’ve been building this group from the ground up since mid-2020, with two teams already up and running in Dublin, Ireland. In 2021 we’ll add two more brand new teams.

The Engineering Manager we’d like to hire next will build out a team of 4-6 Engineers that will help Intercom hit self-serve business targets by improving and building new product experiences, especially in the acquisition, and onboarding/activation stage of the customer journey.

This is a zero-to-one opportunity to build out a brand new team and take it right through to performing. It is also an opportunity to help lay foundations for new ways of working within Intercom R&D and with key partners in other sister functions such as sales, finance and marketing.

This role is based in Dublin but in line with our COVID guidelines, candidates can work from home anywhere in Ireland and will not be required in the Dublin office through to June 2021. Intercom will support new candidates with an initial work-from-home stipend and an ongoing monthly stipend.

What will I be doing? 🚀

  • Building out a brand new team in Intercom R&D’s Growth Group.
  • Delivering new or improved product experiences that clearly drive revenue growth for Intercom.
  • Partnering with engineering, product, and design leaders to shape team direction and strategy.
  • Enabling your team to achieve high levels of productivity, performance and reliability.
  • Teaching, mentoring, coaching and being a role model for engineers and other engineering managers.
  • Creating a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team culture focused on fast, focused, high impact execution.

  •

What skills do I need? 📖

  • An ability to lead Engineering teams that deliver impact quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, especially with non-R&D stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and supporting 4-6 engineers in their personal growth and career progression.
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.
