Trading Finance Business Partner

Generation and Trading develops and operates ESB’s electricity generation assets and trades their output to meet market and customer needs. The GT finance team is central to the delivery of ESB’s ambitious renewable generation targets, and the maintenance of GT’s financial strength as it supports the energy transition in Ireland and Great Britain and transforms its business model.

This Finance Business Partner role will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with the business on the Moneypoint Security of Supply contract with Eirgrid creating a real partnership with both operations and management. Providing support and analysis, to be a trusted adviser and to add value that will assist in decision making.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Financial ownership of the Security of Supply contract with Eirgrid
  • Work closely with the business and FinOps Accounting & Reporting Team and Financial Pricing & Analysis Teams to ensure that costs are correctly recorded and ensure costs are billed onto Eirgrid in line with the SoS contract
  • Manage annual submissions to CRU
  • Work closely with the business, ensure the Long-Term Asset Plan (LTAP) process for Moneypoint is financially robust
  • Support GT Target Setting, Corporate Plan, budget and forecast process. GT link with the FP&A team on Budget and Plan, challenging Business Line submissions and identifying key enablers of improved finance performance.
  • Develop KPI’s with the Business to track performance.
  • Develop corrective action plans with Business Managers to address performance gaps
  • Interact and manage relationship with external auditors and CRU
  • Present to senior stakeholders in the Business on projects and financial issues.
     

Experience And Qualifications
 

  • A finance qualification with minimum 3-4 years PQE or equivalent.
  • The ability to understand and communicate the key drivers of GT financial performance.
  • A commercial mind set with effective analytical and interpersonal skills, comfortable in dealing with senior management.
  • A capacity to work on own initiative, and to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
  • An ability to write clearly and concisely for business purposes.
  • Stakeholder management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to leverage relationships to influence solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a demanding workload, including appropriate prioritisation of short term and long-term deliverables.
