Description:
Role Description Workshop Manager to lead our fabrication and prefabrication operations. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our workshop, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of pipework fabrication packages for major projects throughout Ireland and Europe.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing workshop personnel, coordinating production activities, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across all fabrication operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Lead, motivate, and develop fabrication teams including welders, pipefitters, fabricators, and apprentices.
- Plan and coordinate fabrication schedules in line with project requirements and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor productivity, labour allocation, and workshop performance.
- Ensure all fabricated pipework meets project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Teams to coordinate fabrication priorities and material requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Manage workshop equipment, maintenance schedules, and resource requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Conduct toolbox talks, performance reviews, and ongoing training initiatives.
- Assist with procurement planning, stock control, and material management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Workshop Manager, Fabrication Manager, or Senior Supervisor role within the mechanical, piping, fabrication, or engineering sector.
- Strong understanding of pipework fabrication, welding processes, and mechanical installation practices.
- Experience managing workshop teams and coordinating fabrication activities.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, and engineering documentation.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and leadership skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and production planning systems.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and welding quality requirements.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing or process improvement initiatives.
