Head of Trade Credit Insurance

Description:

This is a developmental underwriting role suited to a highly experienced professional with a deep technical understanding of the product classes and an established network of market relationships. The role will play a key part in developing, maintaining, and expanding the company’s European portfolio via a network of MGAs and strategic broker partners.

The Job:

• Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of Trade Credit, Bond Surety, and Political Risk business across the EU.
• Work closely with MGA partners to assess risk, negotiate terms, and structure complex solutions.
• Support the continued growth and development of the underwriting strategy from the Dublin hub.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and support to junior underwriters and external partners.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with claims, risk, compliance, and actuarial functions to ensure underwriting discipline and alignment with appetite.
• Travel as required to meet with MGAs, brokers, and clients across the region.

The person:

• Extensive experience in underwriting Trade Credit Insurance (political/surety risk experience desirable).
• Demonstrable technical expertise in structuring and pricing complex risks.
• Strong network of contacts across MGAs, brokers, and risk carriers in the EU market.
• Proven ability to operate in a cross-border underwriting environment.
• Commercially astute with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial flair.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across a global team.
• Fluent English essential; additional European languages a plus.
