Planning Lead

 

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Planner to support the delivery of large-scale data centre projects across mainland Europe. This is a key leadership role suited to candidates with strong Mechanical or Electrical backgrounds, ideally within MEP or building services environments.

 

Role Overview

As Lead Planner, you will manage a team of planners, drive schedule development, and ensure programme accuracy across major projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, engage with multiple stakeholders, and contribute directly to successful project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of planners from Graduate to Senior level.
  • Define team structure, responsibilities, and workload management.
  • Ensure all deadlines and project milestones are met.
  • Develop and manage project programmes using Primavera P6 or ASTA PowerProject.
  • Produce high-quality planning deliverables using Excel, Power BI, and Bluebeam.
  • Prepare Pre-Construction, Construction, and Commissioning schedules.
  • Carry out weekly site walks to maintain an accurate understanding of progress.
  • Liaise with project teams to resolve day-to-day issues and maintain schedule integrity.
  • Manage the full project planning lifecycle and drive engagement across teams.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships to support alignment and communication across the project.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, Construction, QA, Turnover, and other functions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks before they impact project performance.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 or ASTA.
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical construction experience, ideally on data centre projects.
  • Understanding of Delay Analysis techniques.
  • Experience with BIM processes and engineering workflows at pre-construction stage.
  • Familiarity with QA handover and Commissioning (Cx) requirements.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across mainland Europe.
