This role sits at the intersection of healthcare, data science, and applied AI, where you will help to deliver solutions that improve outcomes, reduce administrative burden, and enable healthcare professionals to perform at their best, delivering technology that is trustworthy, explainable, and impactful at scale.
You will serve as a senior technical leader driving high-impact innovation across healthcare information systems. With deep expertise in Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Natural Language Understanding (NLU), you will lead the design and development of advanced AI capabilities that power mission-critical healthcare products.
This is a hands-on role with real influence. You will design novel AI architectures, drive technical breakthroughs, and directly shape how advanced AI is integrated into production systems. Working closely with scientists, engineers, and healthcare domain experts, you will deliver AI solutions that are explainable, reliable, compliant, and transformative for healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and evaluate novel AI models for autonomous and agent-based systems within healthcare workflows
- Advance state-of-the-art NLU for clinical, operational, and administrative healthcare text
- Explore and implement new capabilities in reasoning, decision-making, and multi-modal understanding
- Adapt and fine-tune large language models for healthcare-specific language, regulatory constraints, and ethical requirements
- Build AI pipelines that process both structured and unstructured healthcare data, including FHIR, HL7, clinical notes, and claims data
- Contribute to domain-specific model architectures that improve clinical decision-making, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement
- Act as the primary technical authority for Agentic and Generative AI across project teams
- Mentor junior AI scientists and engineers through code reviews, research guidance, and technical workshops
- Drive internal knowledge sharing on emerging AI trends, architectures, and best practices
- Define and implement rigorous evaluation frameworks for model accuracy, robustness, explainability, and fairness
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy and security standards, including HIPAA and HITRUST
- Partner closely with engineering and MLOps teams to transition research prototypes into scalable, production-ready systems
Required Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML, with a strong record of deployed, production-grade models
- Proficiency in Python, R, and modern machine learning libraries
- Deep experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and transformer-based architectures
- Hands-on expertise with AI frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, and RAG systems
- Experience building autonomous AI agents and reasoning systems
- Proven success applying AI to healthcare or life sciences use cases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and MLOps best practices
- Experience with multi-modal AI (text, image, structured data)
- Knowledge graph integration and symbolic reasoning expertise
- Demonstrated ability to take AI research from concept and inception through to production and live deployment
