Description:
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Software Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and test software for class I, II and III medical devices per software standards, e.g. IEC62304.
- Plan major/moderately complex projects, manage scope, and estimate work in collaboration with product engineers, technology architects, software design engineers, and software test engineers.
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior and senior software engineers.
- Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
- Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
- Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.
Key Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of technical experience.
