Senior Technical Officer

Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Technical Officer on a specific purpose contract in the Discipline of Bacteriology. The temporary post is to backfill a staff member on secondment elsewhere in the university. Applicants must have a primary degree in Bacteriology, Microbiology, or related scientific discipline, as well as a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a related Discipline. Applicants must have previous experience of working with undergraduate and/or postgraduate students. Applicants must have experience in microbiology and molecular biology methods as well as operation and maintenance of associated equipment. Prior experience of microbial genome analysis and/or bioinformatics would be an advantage. Candidates should have excellent communication, time management and organizational skills; be self-motivated, flexible and innovative and have good interpersonal skills. Applicants should be computer literate and previous experience of maintaining a professional web presence would be desirable. Previous experience of developing and participating in outreach activities would be desirable.
