Senior Trade Credit & Bond Surety Underwriter

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex financial statements and assess the creditworthiness of businesses seeking trade credit and surety coverage.
• Price risks appropriately, considering market conditions, industry trends, and individual risk profiles.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends.
• Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks within the trade credit and surety market.
• Collaborate with other departments, including claims, actuarial, and sales, to ensure effective risk management and business growth.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
• Mentor junior underwriters, sharing knowledge and expertise.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional designations (e.g., ACII) are preferred.
• Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in underwriting trade credit and surety risks, with a proven track record of success.
• Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and insurance principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
