Description:
The Warehouse Operative supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse by accurately picking, packing, handling, and delivering goods while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and pack products in line with order requirements
- Handle batch-controlled and expiry-dated products, ensuring correct stock rotation (FIFO / FEFO)
- Load and unload trailers and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
- Transport and deliver goods in accordance with schedules provided by the dispatcher
- Secure loads correctly and ensure weight limits are adhered to
- Verify the quantity and condition of goods during loading and unloading
- Report shortages, overages, damage, or discrepancies promptly
- Operate truck/van units and material handling equipment safely
- Report vehicle defects or maintenance issues to the appropriate department
- Carry out general warehouse duties, including material movement, equipment operation, and record keeping
- Assist with inbound and outbound shipments as required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Build positive working relationships by acting in a professional and courteous manner
- Perform other duties as reasonably required
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all warehouse health and safety rules and site-specific procedures
- Use provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly at all times
- Follow safe manual handling and equipment operation practices
- Participate in mandatory training and refresher sessions
- Support a positive safety culture by identifying and reporting hazards or concerns
Skills & Experience
- Previous warehouse or logistics experience desirable (but not essential)
- Minimum of one year’s relevant experience preferred
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling batch-controlled or expiry-dated products
- Ability to meet targets in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically capable of manual handling tasks
