Summary of Post

This application relates to a new clinical research nurse post in RCSI, working with Professor Michael O’Reilly in the Department of Endocrinology/Medicine. Specifically the appointee will work as part of the academic adrenal tumour service. The successful candidate will recruit patients to local clinical studies as well as to international multi-centre studies where applicable. Biobanking of patient biomaterial in RCSI such as serum, urine and saliva will be a central role for the new appointee.

Specific duties:

• Patient recruitment including consenting for participation in clinical research studies
• Coordination of sample biobanking – serum/urine/saliva/tissue
• Recording of sample storage using Freezerworks
• Where appropriate, arrangement for sample transfer under appropriate MTAs with international collaborators
• Maintenance of regulatory approvals and clinical databases in relation to the above research studies
• Support for Professor O’Reilly and Professor Sherlock in the Adrenal Tumour service in Beaumont Hospital (monitoring of results including mitotane levels; MDT input)

Qualifications:

• BSc (Hons) in General nursing (mandatory)
• MSc desirable
