Underwriting Analyst

An exciting Operational Underwriting Analyst Role has come available in our South Dublin Cherrywood office.

In this role, you’ll have responsibility for handling a commercial underwriting portfolio through our broker network.

Our underwriting team take care of commercial line risks (Speciality Lines – Legal Contingencies, Engineering, Contract Works & Marine) within designated underwriting authority and in-line with Aviva’s business plan while supporting high quality service to brokers.

These roles exist as part of Aviva’s forward focus in a growing and fluid team with a balance of people-broker interaction and technical underwriting. We are proud they involve working on internal and external projects and lead to growth and progression in our wider teams.

Duties & responsibilities:

• Making independent underwriting decisions in an informed and timely manner.
• Underwrite effectively using our Risk Appetite, Underwriting Manual & your Licence Authority.
• Building positive relationships with brokers and collaborating across all teams.
• Providing expert knowledge to brokers and colleagues as well as supporting the lead Analyst.
• Reporting to include quality and risk/control.

Skills & experiences required:

• It is preferable but not essential that you will have previous Commercial Underwriting experience and ideally a good understanding of Commercial Underwriting products.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Track record of end-to end responsibility for cases and managing /prioritising workloads.
• Good IT skills with Microsoft Office to intermediate level as a minimum.
• You will have commenced or have a strong desire to complete Professional insurance. qualifications/industry accreditations e.g. APA Commercial, CIP, ACII, etc.
